Event Details:

  • Theme: "Doorways: An Islamic Perspective" - Embrace the Islamic artistic expression and let your imagination soar as you interpret what "Doorways" mean to you or Islamic societies through your art.
  • Categories: We welcome entries across various categories, including painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
  • Submission Deadline: September 25th, 2023 - Mark your calendars and submit your artwork before the deadline to be considered for this competition.
  • Entry Fee: There is a no entry fee to participate.

How to Enter:

  1. Fill out the “Call for Submission” form and create your artist profile.
  2. Select the category that best aligns with your artwork.
  3. Send a high-resolution image of your art piece, along with the title of your work, a 150-word long description, dimensions of your artwork and your art medium to events@healthymuslimfamilies.ca. (If you intend to sell your artwork please include the sale prices for each submission as well.)
  4. Cross your fingers and wait for the results!

Terms and Conditions

Please review the agreement and requirements below and confirm your understanding of these requirements and regulations.

ENTRY AGREEMENT

Artists must read, understand, and agree to the following terms of the Entry Agreement:

  • All works selected will be displayed at the art gala
  • If any artist would like to put up their artwork for sale at the art gala on 29th October, then details can be discussed
  • Please ensure that you have read the entire “Conditions of Entry” before proceeding.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

By entering the HMF Art Competition 2023 organized by Healthy Muslim Families ("Organizer"), participants agree to adhere to the following entry conditions:

  1. Eligibility:
  • The Competition is open to artists worldwide regardless the age and ethnicity.
  1. Submission Requirements:
  • The artwork you submit should strictly follow Islamic guidelines. (It can include a range of artistic fields including architecture, calligraphy, painting, glass, ceramics, and textiles, among others. Islamic religious art is non-figural with no depiction of faces.)
  • Participants may submit as many quality original artworks in any visual art medium as they want.
  • Artworks can be previously exhibited, published, or awarded.
  • Submissions must not infringe upon the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
  • Each artwork submission must accompany a brief description (up to 150 words) explaining the artistic concept and inspiration.
  • Those who cannot send their actual artwork may submit a high-resolution digital image in jpeg, or png format.
  • Submissions must be received by September 25th, 2023.
  1. Theme:
  • Artworks should reflect the theme of "Doorways: An Islamic Perspective". Participants are encouraged to explore concepts of architecture, arches, Islamic symbolism, and philosophy in their submissions.
  1. Entry Fee:
  • There is no Entry Fee to enter this competition.
  1. Submission Process:
  • Participants must complete the online Participation form and create their artist profile.
  • Submissions must be to the email, events@healthymuslimfamilies.ca, accompanied by accurate and up-to-date contact information.
  1. Ownership and Copyright:
  • Participants retain full copyright and ownership of their submitted artworks.
  • By entering the Competition, participants grant the Healthy Muslim Families rights to use and display the submitted artworks for promotional and exhibition purposes, including but not limited to press releases, social media, and marketing materials.
  1. Judging and Selection:
  • Submissions will be judged based on creativity, originality, technical skill, concept, and adherence to the theme.
  • The judging panel will consist of qualified individuals selected by Healthy Muslim Families.
  • The panel's decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the HMF Art Competition 2023.
  1. Prizes:
  • First Place: C$500
  • Second Place: C$300
  • Third Place: C$200
  1. Gallery Display:
  • Selected artworks will be displayed at the prestigious Winnipeg Art Gallery (located at 300 Memorial Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1V1).
  • The Organizers will be responsible for curating and installing the exhibition.
  1. Publicity and Promotion:
  • Participants agree to the use of their names, artworks, descriptions, and biographical information for promotional and publicity purposes related to the HMF Art Competition 2023 and the Winnipeg Art Gallery exhibition.
  1. Important Dates:
  • Submission Deadline: September 25th, 2023
  • Winners Announcement: October 11th, 2023
  • Gallery Exhibition: October 29th, 2023
  1. Disqualification:
  • Healthy Muslim Families reserves the right to disqualify any submission that violates copyright, contains offensive or inappropriate content, or fails to comply with these entry conditions.
  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by these entry conditions. The Organizer reserves the right to modify, extend, or cancel the Competition for any reason.
