You do not have to retain the lawyer you are consulting with! You are free to consult with any other lawyer and retain any lawyer you like.

You will be retaining the lawyer on a personal basis. HMF is only providing this service to make consultations more accessible so you know your rights and your options to move forward.

Yes, we can help you apply. Legal Aid Manitoba decides the outcome.

We can offer help for your Legal services on a case-by-case basis. After consultation with the lawyer, we can discuss your needs and come up with a plan for the hours of services we can cover.

Yes, if you get an appointment and inform us ahead of time then we will arrange an interpreter for you at no cost to you.

Yes, we have ASL interpreters and other communication professionals like speech therapists that we can contract with. If you want to bring your own support person, you are welcome to.

Yes, we can translate documents and verify them for a cost.

The lawyers we work with can notarize documents for a fee. The fee is for the lawyer, not HMF.

Yes, we can help fill out various forms. Please call and talk to us about your needs.

Some of the forms we have helped with are: Protection orders, Child Support claims, Basis of Claim for refugee status, Taxes, Government benefits, and Passport forms.
