Community Development

Community Development is a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems, typically aiming to build stronger and more resilient local community.

HMF works hard to promote:

  • civic engagement,
  • rights for individuals and groups,
  • economic opportunity,
  • equality,
  • social justice for all.

We take on projects and work in collaboration with other groups and organizations to make our communities where everyone has a place. Some of the ways we work on Community Development.

Community Engagement

Community engagement is a process whereby actors in a service system seek out community values, concerns and aspirations, and incorporate them into a decision-making process, establishing an ongoing partnership with the community to ensure that the community's priorities and values continue to shape services and the service system.

Community engagement has a strong rationale and accumulating evidence of efficacy, and the potential to be a key strategy for improving outcomes for families and communities.
