Islamic calligraphy holds a special place in the artistic and cultural heritage of Muslim communities around the world. For centuries, it has brought together written language, artistic creativity, and spiritual expression, producing remarkable traditions of visual art. To celebrate this rich heritage, we hosted our 6th Annual Islamic Art Exhibition 2026 on October 29 and 30, to mark the Canadian Islamic History Month and Manitoba’s Islamic Heritage Month.

This year’s exhibition, themed “Calligraphy: The Art and Legacy of Islamic Calligraphy,” showcased a diverse collection of artworks, from traditional calligraphy and intricate illumination to modern and contemporary interpretations. Each piece offered a different perspective on an artistic tradition that continues to inspire creativity across cultures and generations.
Over the two days, we welcomed community members, representatives of partner organizations, and special guests, including Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). Visitors had the opportunity to admire the artworks, learn about the artists and the inspiration behind their creations, and engage in conversations about the history and significance of Islamic calligraphy. For many, the exhibition offered a first introduction to this art form and an opportunity to discover how calligraphy has connected faith, culture, and artistic expression across centuries.
The exhibition also provided an opportunity to support participating artists, with many artworks finding new homes among appreciative visitors.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the talented artists who shared their work, our dedicated volunteers, partners, special guests, and everyone who joined us in celebrating this remarkable artistic heritage.
Through our annual Islamic Art Exhibition, we hope to continue celebrating artistic creativity, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering greater appreciation and understanding of Islamic art within our wider community. We look forward to welcoming everyone again next year!
